- Compact knife sharpener

- The coarse level is recommended for when the knife is completely blunt. The blade angle is reproduced thanks to the carbide abrasive wheels in the knife sharpener
- The fine level is recommended both for fine sharpening or for regular resharpening of the blade. The ceramic slats grind the blade and the knife regains its original sharpness
- This sharpener has been designed to make it easy for anyone, even without experience, to sharpen knives
- The blade is inserted vertically into the slot with the grinding slats and pulled gently through to the tip, keeping the blade straight, whilst the sharpener is held in place with the other hand
- The knife blades should be cleaned before and after every grinding process

Pretty decent sharpener

Needing to replace my cheap R30 sharpener I bought from a Chinese store (that finally wore out) I looked around and finally settled on this product.
Overall, I'd say it's a good buy, at first I was hesitant to rate it as I wasn't getting the sharp knife results I expected. However ,after a few weeks of trial and error I discovered you had to use the 2nd stage ceramic slot with a little bit of force.
Think cutting a slice of bread. A little bit of force with a mixture of back-and-forth action to sharpen the blade closest to the handle, finished off with a pulling action only to sharpen the end of the blade and tip.
So far I've used it with an 18cm Santoku blade, 15cm utility knife, 9cm paring knife and a 20cm cooks knife. All of which now have a razor sharp edge thanks to learning the technique!
Beware though of the 1st stage slot with the metal cross-pieces, this is for really blunt knifes and will shave off substantial amounts of metal off your blade so use sparingly and carefully!
And lastly, buy quality knives! Quality knives come with quality steel. Without good steel you will get a jagged uneven edge on your cheaper blades, no matter the sharpener... Read more

Excellent little sharpener, works quick and easy. The rough side helps shape the blade, while the ceramics helps hone in the sharpness.

Great little sharpener! Dynamite definitely comes in small packages with this guy. Perfect for all my Wusthof blades as well as my serrated ones. Ideal for honing a razor sharp edge with only the slightest touch!

Save your money for something better

It's a bit of a toy. I had a knife that still had a reasonable edge get more blunt with this sharpener.
Use only light pressure. For heavier knives their weight will be enough.

I bought one of these for myself and another to put with a gift for a friend. I love mine and use it very often, it's easy to use and works well. The red is easy to spot in my cutlery drawer too! (The friend reports that the gift is being put to good use as well.)

Excellent knife sharpener. Super compact but used as instructed and it easily sharpens just about any knife to razor-like sharpness.
My well-used Master Chef knives are now (a lot) sharper than when I bought them, and I love that I can return them to that state in minutes with very little effort.
Great value, I highly recommend it.
