• Before first use
• Wipe and dry cooking plates thoroughly
• Lightly coat non-stick plates with vegetable oil or non-stick spray
• Heat empty for 5–10 minutes on first use to burn off manufacturing residue — slight odour or smoke is normal

Safe use:

• Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from water and flammable materials
• Pre-heat until the ready indicator light comes on
• Use only wooden, silicone or heat-resistant plastic utensils — never metal or sharp objects
• Cooking plates and housing become very hot — use handles and knobs only

Cleaning:

• Unplug and cool completely before cleaning
• Wipe plates with a damp cloth and mild dish soap
• Soften baked-on residue with a warm, damp cloth before wiping
• Wash the removable drip tray with warm, soapy water
• Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth
