I've used the Shoo fly once, keeping close track of the one fly that was cruising around in my kitchen. True enough, the fly did not sit on the food close to the Shoo Fly and in that instance I think it works well. A little further from the Shoo Fly, I'm not sure, will have to test some more. I am very impressed with this ShooAway. Works very well. It looks good on a table while keeping flies away. It runs super silent. You can stick your hand in between the soft blades while it is running and it will stop without hurting you. So very safe to use around kids as well. In fact our cats find it very entertaining! So now I must just keep the cats off the table.

I was dubious when I bought this, but the reviews seemed positive, and I had the eBucks, so I thought "Go for it!". And it works!
We have these horrid teeny little flies in our kitchen and this little marvel makes sure that we can leave food out without it being overrun.
It runs softly and the repellent dots on the blades clearly does do something to those annoying little bugs.

Bought two as a Christmas gift, and hoped and prayed that it worked. I am happy to say it works brilliantly, For the first time ever we ate prawns without having to wave flies away the whole time. You do need more than one for a 6 seater table. The distance they keep flies away is a bit bigger than the area the blades cover, so you can place them a few centimeters apart, haven't yet tested how far apart they can stand and still work effectively. The ShooAway does help with the flies to some extent but we have found that they are also way too sneaky and manage to fly underneath the ShooAway blades to get to the food. Only partially effective!

I have been using the ShooAway not only at the table, but also in the kitchen while preparing food and flies are around. I have placed an order for more, because my table is large, and one doesn't seem to be enough. One just has to be careful of knocking the blades while it is on the table, but at least they are not breakable, and just slow down if they make contact with something.

This ShooAway Fly repellant works fantastically.
It is reasonably priced, completely quiet with soft blades that cannot hurt if accidently touched and it definitely keeps the flies away. I've been using two on my breakfast table between cheese and cold meats and there is not a fly in sight. I'm absolutely delighted.

I have found that not only do these contraptions keep insects off your food (mostly, that is; because the fan is quite tall, some enterprising flies do manage to get under it), they also detract insects from coming in the first place. Makes a huge difference in my kitchen.

Not yet tried this ShooAway for repelling flies, as it was to take to France and all borders are closed. I do believe from a friend I spoke to since I ordered this product, that it is highly effective, so I look forward to when I am able to test it out myself. I'll have to give it 4 stars as I've not actually tried it myself yet.

Someone said but it doesn't kill the flies. Who wants dead flies falling onto your plate?
When preparing food, the flies stay away! That's all I ask!

I am impressed. However, a word of warning. The box says it has an 'eco-motor'. The box also says to switch it off immediately after use. Well, truthfully, we did not switch it off immediately and the batteries went dead pretty quickly [3 days]. Perhaps the Aussies have a different idea about the meaning of 'eco' than I do?

I had seen these working on long buffet tables in Dubai (pre-Covid days!) and thought they were wonderful so I was delighted when they came on sale here. Silent, clean and effective, they work so well. I use one in the kitchen when preparing food on hot days and the flies withdraw. Outdoor eating is now much more relaxed without all the fly-arm waving.

I bought 3 of these items, keeping two for myself, and one is intended as a birthday gift. ShooAway does work as advertised; I deliberately put out a piece of cake with two of these fans operating. It was amazing to watch a fly attempting to land on the cake. It never succeeded!

This product does not work. It wasn't even a few seconds and a fly literally went and sat on the food directly below the Shoo-Away spinning blades.

I should have invested in some of these a long time ago. I bought two, which was a good decision, as you then do get a bigger area 'covered'.

Positioning them is important, as they need to stand completely free, yet fan over the food and not be in the way when you want to dish up.

We have used them successfully at food shoots as well. These don't keep the flies away completely but make a big enough difference that it's worth the buy. Read more
