  Place the Original Pizza Braai inside or on your braai to enjoy homemade pizza in just 4 minutes. Built with the same quality and design, the XL Series is the new addition to the Pizza Braai Family. It's big enough to accommodate any shape pizza up to 34cm, and even though it's built for pizzas, this versatile small-oven-style braai also makes room for a casserole or oven tray to add a smokey flavour to any dish. What's more, the new easy drain drawer design helps to drain any oil making cleaning up even easier.

  In 2012, the idea was to design a pizza oven that could fit into a braai and it was soon realised that serious heat was needed to make great-tasting pizza. The need to have a pizza braai small enough that it could stay in your braai when not in use, but still leave enough space to braai, was the catalyst to upgrade the original design to create a versatile, top-performing, compact pizza braai to be a true champion at pizza parties.

  Before using it for the first time:

  • Remove from packaging and place the box in your braai
  • Adjust the feet (turn the bolts) to the desired height
  • Please ensure the box is stable and that there is no wobble
  • Start your fire on top of the box using 7-10 pieces of wood depending on the wood size
  • After approximately 20 minutes start spreading the coals evenly on top of the box
  • There's no need to wait for the wood to be burned out completely
  • If you like your pizza base crisper you can place 3-6 pieces of coal/embers under the box. Instead, start with less to prevent burning
  • Now you're ready to start with your pizza
  • The drawer is made of pre-seasoned steel, so no need for flour, semolina
  • Place your pizza directly into a drawer — no need for a pizza tile
  • Close the drawer and set a timer for 2 minutes
  • Open the drawer and use the spatula provided to rotate the pizza
  • Close the drawer and set the timer for 1-2 minutes depending on the amount of topping
  • After 4 minutes your pre-baked pizza will be done. Should you want your pizza base crispier, bake it for another 30 seconds
  • Homemade bases will take slightly longer
  • Open the drawer, remove the pizza with a spatula and enjoy!
  • Should you want to make a number of pizzas, just add more wood as needed and keep the fire going
  • Always make the fire on top and not on the sides as this will result in uneven cooking

  Cleaning Instructions:

  • Box — remove the ash from your box and wipe in cooking/olive oil using a kitchen towel after every 5th braai
  • Drawer — lift 45 degrees up to remove the drawer
  • Scrape off excess toppings or oil with your pizza spade and wipe down with a kitchen towel
  • Rub in a light layer of cooking/olive oil in your drawer — the drawer will absorb the oil once it's hot again
  • Don't clean your drawer with soap/chemicals as this will remove your sealing/protective layer
  • Only use a soft sponge or dishcloth and a stainless steel cleaning agent to clean the stainless steel. Don't scrub with steel wool, brush or the rough part of a kitchen sponge
  • Rub in some olive/vegetable oil or spray & cook under the drawer to smoothly re-insert the drawer into the box

  Storage Instructions:

  • If the Pizza Braai is stored for long durations of time, lightly rub vegetable/olive oil into steel before being stored
  • Store in a dry place
