I love the size, love the colour, and it keeps the butter at an even temperature. It looks great. My only reason for 4 stars is I would prefer some form of handle to lift. If you have arthritis or a similar condition, you may find it difficult to lift the lid as it is not light and quite broad. I have found sliding a knife underneath helps.

This holds the full 500g block of butter which is great. I find in the hot months butter can go rancid, it has never happened with the butter that I put in this butter dish. It is heavy and solid and looks great on the table.

I certainly cannot contest that this is a beautiful butter dish that looks great on your counter but I'm not sure that it's a must-have addition to your Le Creuset collection.

I find that the lid is so heavy (even for me) that it's not the best choice for my older kids to handle for their morning toast.

One has to handle it with care which lessens its practical value. Read more

"Brick"..because it can fit the full size of a butter brick, and is equally heavy. A variety of beautiful 2-tone colours to choose from and beautifully finished, with no scuffs after long-term use.
