Le Creuset Classic Salt Mill, 21cm — Colour: Flame

My husband had to take it apart to let it dry completely - I "washed" it before using for the first time and PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!! I'm sure this detail was not in the fine print...
But all okay now.

I love my set of coastal blue salt and pepper mills! They grind perfectly and with the easily adjustable setting between coarse and fine grind it makes cooking very convenient. They also look very pretty on the table!!

The build quality is excellent as it is will most Le Creuset items.
I have always steered away from salt mills as I like "table" salt on my food not coarse ground lumps of salt. However, this is is perfect and the adjustable mill allows you to have a nice fine grind. And of course it does not block like a standard salt cellar.

Not only good looking, but the grinder itself works exceptionally well. The grinding action is smooth and very easy to use. Having tried many other salt grinders before, this is positively the best one I have ever used. I have bought the pepper mill as well - just as good. A kitchen must have!

Absolutely love the salt and pepper mills. Great to use. Gave only 4 stars because salt and pepper mess everywhere you place the mills. However, never had salt and pepper grinders before, so not sure if all products have the same effect? Other than that minor detail, absolutely love my mills.

I use Khoisan course salt in the grinder and it clogs and does not dispense. I have stopped trying to use it and use a cheap grinder from the supermarket.
The pepper grinder I bought with it works OK

The salt mill that was delivered to me has a lot of dings and scratches on it. Also some discolouration or bits of colour floating in the resin. I hope to be able to exchange it for a better one in store.

I've had many pepper mills over the years, Chef'n, Peugeot and they all break. This is by far the best salt and pepper mill. Easy to handle and dispenses a lot of pepper without the struggle. I read up a lot prior to buying and I honestly don't know why people give this a negative review. It's an amazing set!

Screw top is sketchy - but there's a trick to it...

When mine arrived and I couldn't screw the metal top back after filling it, I almost sent it back, but thought it worth popping into a Le Creuset store, who saved the day. On some models, the central metal rod is a little too short so needs pushing up from the base to extend the screw thread above the top of the grinder. On the underside of the grinder, press in the white central circular piece and screw on the silver top at the same time (you might want a friend to help). If yours won't press (like mine didn't), clear out any errant salt flakes that might have got caught in the mechanism and try again... it's a faff, but it does look pretty on the table when you're done. :) Read more
