Sometimes it’s good to have a helping hand when doing some delicate slicing on your latest baking project. This nifty cake cutter wire is perfect for splitting cakes evenly, quickly and simply. With a height adjustable, carbon steel, wire blade to give a clean cut at any required depth, the frame also has stabilising feet to ensure a consistently level cut.

Professional looking cakes

Before ordering this cake cutter, my cakes always looked very homemade. Slightly domed top, with buttercream icing slathered all over it - delicious, yes, but hardly food magazine worthy.
Since acquiring the cutter, my cakes would make Martha Stewart proud. Decorating perfectly level cakes is much easier and the results look truly professional. I've been using the cutter to make birthday cakes for children's birthday parties and I never could have created such perfect cakes without it!
I've had an instance where a cake had a particularly tough crust, so I used the wire to mark the height of where I wanted to slice and scored the cake with a knife to get the wire to grip. I find that a sawing motion works best to slice through a cake. To adjust the wire, press one end of the cutter against your chest and pull the other side (the other leg of the 'u') towards you to slacken the wire and adjust it.

I was going to be making a rainbow Cake and knew from past experience that I couldn't be trusted with cutting any odd bits off with a regular knife.
So off I went and picked up this little beauty! What a pleasure it was :) No fuss and a tiny bit of mess - love it!

This works really well getting those layers perfectly, especially if you keep one point of the cutting wire static, and pivot the cutter around. Can't believe I've never owned one before!

Crumb coating a cake before applying fondant has never been easier. This cutter levels your cake perfectly every time. The fact that it has height adjustments and the width is simply awesome as you can use it on any size cake.

I offered to make my friend a cake for her very small wedding and so I got this to help me make sure that the layers were perfectly cut. I had never used a cutting wire before and never imagined it would be this easy!
I ended up making a total of three cakes that I used this cutting wire on and all of them came out looking very professional. I just would have liked the little sizing indentations to go further up the sides to give more sizing options but I found that even without them the wire was taunt and stable enough to cut.

I was going to review this nifty little gadget myself - but the other 39 reviews here will tell you exactly what I was going to day! I stupidly broke my first one (it was 5 years old already) when I banged it on my kitchen counter, and I HAD to replace it 'coz I can't be without it! You won't get the same neatness or accuracy with a knife.

Seriously wish I had bought this product years ago. It's large, so it comfortably cuts cakes that are larger than your typical size, which is great when baking tiered cakes. The wire is also stronger/thicker/more sturdy than other products I have used previously, so it cuts through even the most dense chocolate brownie cakes with nuts baked into it with no trouble.

I wanted to try a cake collar but it looked clumsy and you'd need different sizes for different cake sizes. This tool, on the other hand, is very versatile and works well. It doesn't matter what size your cakes are, it'll slice through them all with ease and accuracy. Although it layers the cake well, it's not quite as strong as I would've liked. If the cake has any crusty exterior, the wire will not cut through it. However, it has no problem with moist cake!
