Great for blind baking.
To clean just put the beans in a small laundry bag and put them in the dishwasher.
Great product for both 'big' bakers and 'not so big' bakers !

Baking made easy!

These beans are brilliant! Makes blind baking super easy, it seems silly to buy them because you could use dried beans or rice, but the reality is these are so much easier and because of the weight and the heat that they retain they weigh down the pastry nicely preventing it from rising, ensuring its delicious crisp!

The baking beans works like a dream!

The beans are enough for two medium size tart dishes. They distribute the heat evenly over the base and it bakes perfectly!

Quality at a good price
Item reviewed:
Review by Anne B. on 3 July 2020, 1 month after purchase
The beads are heavy and solid and don't break when dropped. There are enough in the container to anchor two 26 cm pie crusts at a time. Instructions say to wash them after each use, but if you place them on top of baking paper in the pie crust there doesn't seem to be any need for this. Need to be hand-washed prior to first use as they are dusty when new.

No more using sugar beans.

The beans are a must have in the kitchen. If you bake large tarts you may need two containers though. I had the perfect results with blind baking with the baking beans.

Cool beans!

These baking beans are great for stopping the bubbles that sometimes form on the base of the pie crust (and they prevent the sides from shrinking as it bakes). Because they are ceramic, they hold their heat very well too.

Baking Beans Succeed

These have definitely been one of the most practical investments in my kitchen. They're so much more convenient to use than the pasta I previously resorted to using. Hooray for more professional baking on a budget!

This was my best buy ever! I can imagine blind baking without the baking beans again! (I am just sorry I never invented this product!)

This product is "delight-fully" useful!

Who would have thought that Beans (Baking ones, of course) would make me "delightfully" happy?!
I have been looking for them for "centuries" and finally - et voilá! - I have them.
They are most helpful in my pastry kitchen.

Baking bean delight

The beans work great. I used them with great success. They cover a 25cm flan, just. You might want to buy two if you want to go bigger. The only issue is that I don't want to put them back in the plastic cup after use. I don't want to melt it.

Worth buying!

The ceramic baking beans are heavy and thus give better results than the dried beans that I have always used in the past. Good heat distribution ensures that the bottom of the pastry shell bakes through.

This product works very well

The product works well, is difficult to obtain such good quality baking beans, and still was good value for the number in the pack.

Jack's Magic Beans ;)

First time my puff pastry baked evenly. No beans popping out of the pastry shell. The ceramic beans' allow for even heat distribution and the weight makes for even baking. My shells are now PERFECT!!!

This is my fourth set!

Every time friends or family see me use my baking beans, they end up leaving with mine and I need to purchase a new container-full. No more stinky beans and because they are ceramic they absorb heat and bake crust from above too.
I would recommend this product to a friend.
Where have you 'bean' all my life
Item reviewed:
Review by Samantha L. on 1 August 2016
These beans are one of my best buys. Ensure evening baking.
And here's a VERY helpful tip for crispy pastry...after you've blind baked with the beans & paper...brush the pastry with egg white, then continue with the second phase of the blind bake. You're welcome!
I would recommend this product to a friend.

I have been looking for this for a very long time and just could not find it anywhere. I have used it a couple of times now and it really works. The only problem is that I should have ordered two containers!!

No more dry beans or rice, when baking blind I just soak them after use, rinse and dry them with paper towel then pop them back into the container.

Chuffed
Item reviewed:
Review by Angela B. on 14 June 2021, 3 months after purchase
Very chuffed with my purchase. I originally bought one tub but very soon discovered that I need at least another tub as you need quite a few beans for it to work effectively - I bought the second tub and think this will be sufficient now. Remember to first put baking paper onto your pastry before emptying the beans onto your pastry or else you will end up having to clean the beans thoroughly afterwards. Using the baking paper prevents them from getting too dirty and makes cleaning them much easier. Read more

One tub doesn't work, you need more weight
Item reviewed:
Review by Tania M. on 19 December 2013, 2 months after purchase
I bought one tub and my pastry was an almighty flop as it would just not stay down. My tart was about 25cm in diameter, thus not small but a standard size. I had graduated from a bag of rice to these weights with disappointing results. The only thing to do was to buy another tub of baking weights to be able to have enough pressure on the pastry. I am hoping that two tubs will be enough. You cannot mix these with rice or it will take you all day to separate them afterwards. All in, a bag of rice for a fraction of the price works better than these weights. Read more
