Best coffee options
I drink instant coffee and I want to up my game. Where do I start?

If you don't have the budget for a an espresso machine then I'd recommend an Aeropress over anything else. I use mine every day and much prefer it over a French press or pour-over coffee. It makes a great cappuccino or flat white. It's quite fun to experiment with different brewing times and ratios of water to coffee, if that's your thing :)
The next step would be to get a good ceramic burr grinder and grind your beans just before brewing.
Hi Beth, it all depends on your budget. Bean to cup machines are the best. I recently spent a few weeks investigating my options. I moved from a Nespresso capsule machine to a fully automatic Jura F9 bean to cup machine. But this is the "big boy" for home coffee machines. Jura is one of the leading manufacturers in this area. The most popular due to reasonable pricing is Delonghi. Another great brand is Miele. Like I said, it is all about how much you can spend. I am a lazy bum that wants to press a single button for any drink. Happy hunting and enjoy whatever you decide on. Don't just jump into it without doing your homework. It is a long term investment.
Beth, it depends entirely on what style coffee you like to drink. What do you usually order at a coffee shop?
Definitely flat white or cappuccino :)
Do you want better instant coffee or to go the artisanal route?
The artisanal route for sure. I've heard grinding the beans just before brewing makes a massive difference, but what else should I consider?
