Columbia Coffee Grinder

I bought this item because I needed a grinder but specifically wanted a burr grinder for the well-documented benefits. That said I don't need an electric one because they're too expensive, and I only need to grind for myself every now and again so a manual grinder is more than adequate. I researched this product and it seemed to get good reviews for its build quality.

So far I'm very impressed with it. I've had it for a few weeks now with no issues. It feels like a solid design, and the thoughtfulness, for example, the crank handle staying in place when folded on for storage using a magnet on the side is pretty clever. It packs up quite efficiently for use when, say, camping. The consistency of the grind after some trial and error with the correct setting of the grinder is solid. Firstly, thanks for the prompt delivery! (Although the package was somewhat mutilated by the courier from an exterior view, after checking the grinder in its own box, the transport thus ended well). Secondly, the grinder gives a consistent grind, which was the objective to purchase, for my (rather basic) Breville Café Venezia home espresso machine. Certainly, it is not the top of the range of hand grinders because of the typical slight misalignment prone to all ceramic conical burrs, but it fits the price compared to expensive artisan machined stainless steel conical burrs. It really gave a fine enough espresso grind and I could set it so fine that it actually choked the portafilter! Little more tweaking this way and that, finally a setting was reached for the espresso taste I prefer and like. (BTW, if one really needs a grind with microscopic same-sized particles one will need a flat burr R10000+ electric grinder). Quite a step-up from the closely related price range of the unbalanced Hario grinder I now "down-stepped" to grind for my filter and French press coffees. Read more

Cup not durable.

Great grind and affordable. However careful when replacing the cup.

Do not tighten because this causes breakage. Do you sell the cup separately?
