Not as solid as it looks, plastic and flimsy. But does what it must do. Mechanism and buttons feel cheap and breakable. Very light. Not worth the price.

The lid was getting stuck on our first one, Yuppiechef replaced it after one week. Such a lovely, sleek kettle.

This is the second one I've had, the lid keeps getting stuck and the release button stops working properly.

Other than that the kettle itself works fine.

Need to look at the lid.

I'm loving this kettle — the keep warm feature is very useful and I love the two-tones colours. Very stylish.

It's huge, I mean it's so big a family of four could use it as a rondavel. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but it's a lot bigger than it needs to be and the stand is both large and tall — been told the kettle becomes quite a central feature of a kitchen, unless you have a very large kitchen.

It's also an extrovert, I mean it screams at the top of it's lungs every time a button is pressed. There's nothing subtle about the tones it makes, they aren't dulcet, in fact it's more like Lisa Simpson and her saxophone, or the guy from Gerry Rafferty's band, when you turn the kettle on the whole neighbourhood lines up for a cuppa.

Then it starts to boil the water and birds and animals clear the area. It's loud, like a ships engine loud. It's ironic because it tells you when it's finished boiling by sounding the alarm, but really the sudden disappearance of the loud drone and vibrations shaking the house to it's foundations are a sufficient notification.

It has no function to "tone it down a bit mate!", volume goes to eleven and only eleven, that's how it rolls.

It makes water 'really warm', 'quite hot', 'very hot' and 'boiling' and when boiling the water steps through those stages, so it has an incidental progress indicator which shows the temp as it goes past 70% and upwards to 100%. The progress indicator isn't very precise though, so the journey from 70% takes about as long as the last stop at 100%, like it's teasing, no, not yet, fooled you, nope, ok, now ! Read more

Good quality, sturdy kettle. It boils quickly and the 'Keep Warm' function is great. It's also handy to be able to select the desired temperatures, especially when making green/herbal teas, and where you don't want the water scorching hot. I personally love the beep sound it makes after boiling. I often put the kettle on and then get distracted/busy doing other things and forget about it — wasting electricity as I then have to boil the water again.

With this kettle it hasn't happened once. Just note, that if you select the 'keep warm' function, it doesn't beep after boiling, but does keep the water at the desired temperature. My order was fulfilled promptly by Yuppiechef! Read more
