If You Care pride themselves in analysing the the entire life cycle chain in developing products, from raw materials sourcing, to production process, to packaging, to disposal — pushing the limits of environmental and social responsibility in its categories. And they back their environmental claims with third party verification and certification from leading certifying bodies. But understanding what each of these certifications means can get a little tricky. Below is our guide to what each of their certifications represents…
–Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
If You Care use only unbleached paper that comes from forests which are certified to be responsibly managed in compliance with the rigorous environmental and social standards of the Forest Stewardship Council.
–Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)
When you see this certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute on an If You Care product, it means it's compostable in commercial or municipal composting facilities in compliance with the U.S. standard ASTM D6400.
–OK Compost
When you see this certification from OK Compost on an If You Care product, it means it's compostable. OK Compost has two certifications, namely "Home" and "Industrial", which means the product is either compostable in backyard or home composting facilities, or in commercial or municipal composting facilities. This accreditation is based on the European standard EN 13432.
–Seedling
When you see this certification on an If You Care product, it means it's compostable in commercial or municipal composting facilities in compliance with the European standard EN 13432.
–USDA
If You Care products are certified biobased according to USDA standards. They come from renewable resources and provide an alternative to petroleum-based products.
–Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.
–Fair Rubber
If You Care is a member of the Fair Rubber Association which promotes environment-friendly production of natural rubber. The Fair Rubber logo for products fulfill the criteria of Fair Trade in natural rubber. The Fair Rubber Association in particular ensures the payment of the Fair Trade premium to the rubber tappers, who decide how that money is spent.
–SCS Certified Recycled Content
This certification validates If You Care’s claim of recycled post consumer content and accurately provides the percentage of recycled content material in their products.
–EU Ecolabel
A number of If You Care products boast EU Ecolabel certification, which is awarded to products that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from raw materials sourcing, production, usage and disposal.
–Recycled Paperboard Alliance
If You Care packaging is made from 100% recycled paperboard.
