About LK's
LK’s began in 1989 when Lourens Kriel came home with a braai tong and decided there and then that he could produce one at half the price. Jumping to work the next day with his son, Johan Kriel, they manufactured the tooling first and then their own tong and tested it the same evening. From a garage to a Wendy house and now a factory in Blackheath, LK’s continues to produce high quality, local products for practical and inventive cooking solutions for an all-round enjoyable braai experience.

Good looking, but not functional

Unfortunately, this item is way below standard and what's expected from this premium online shop. I opted for the more expensive option, it looks good, but I'm extremely disappointed after trying to use it. Firstly, the hinge is way too tight to even open, and one needs to unscrew the handle just to open, or try to modify the hinge for a more permanent fix. Secondly, the bolt and screw mechanism that keeps the two side attached, is very flimsy, and won't last. Think carefully before adding this one to your cart. Read more

Works well

It works and does the job of making jaffels, my only gripe is that the bolt and screw holding the two plates together is problematic and keeps coming loose whilst using it. Surely the manufacturer/design could have been improved to resolve this?

So easy to use, we even make the best toasted sandwiches with our Jaffle Iron.

Waste of money

It is very expensive and the product couldn't open because the wire was too tight, so I had to bend it. Now, it doesn't seal properly when you close it.

Yummy jaffle toasties!

We used our new jaffle iron on our weekend away - on the braai - and made the yummiest jaffle toasties!!!
We found that using a little butter in the iron to grease it before popping in your sandwich helped to stop the bread from sticking, and popping the iron right onto the hot coals really made for a lekker crispy toastie (warming the empty iron up beforehand helps a bit too!) You can't go wrong with a good old cheese, tomato and red onion combo - winning!!! Read more

Lovely jaffles

I have made some lovely jaffles since buying this! It is easy to use and clean. However, it is not a quick process to get a jaffle nicely toasted, and one would ideally need multiple irons if you want to feed a crowd.

Us girls all know how difficult it is to shop for a gift for a male friend! This is a fabulous gift for the guy that likes the outdoors and camping.

Unfortunately the enamel showed signs of chipping off. As this was given as a gift to my daughter who returned to the UK shortly thereafter, we could not return it. Hopefully it will not chip further.

LK normally make good stuff. The one I have does not clip open or closed properly and the nut and bolt holding it together comes loose. Replace this with a lock nut.

It was a Christmas gift for my husband. It fell apart after the second use. The clip used to secure the two arms wouldn't open. Sitting at the bottom of a drawer somewhere now.

DISAPPOINTED

Very disappointed in the jaffle pan. The rods to the handles are too thin for the heavy cast iron front, so it is wobbly when you hold it. The screw at the back kept coming off while making jaffles. It doesn't cut the bread ends off like the old jaffle pan did. Not a good patent.

Don't buy this Jaffle Iron!

Never thought I'd be writing a review on a Jaffle Iron but this one does not work.
Firstly, it does not seal properly. (vital for a good crust)
Secondly, the clip that closes it can't be unhooked once closed, that means you have to unscrew the whole handle if you want to check on your Jaffle's progress or not use it at all which means using both hands to flip it.
Lastly, the back screw keeps coming undone (impossible to tighten when the cast iron heats up!) and is not fitted securely. I believe that's why the iron can't close properly or seals.
I bet you're better off buying one of the cheaper steel Jaffle Irons. Read more

A jaffle iron again - my last one was disposed of a couple of years ago and so great to have one again. Have not used it yet but am well used to using one so looking forward to our next tasty jaffles.

ENAMEL JAFFLE IRON - USELESS
Item reviewed:
Review by John S. on 25 May 2021, 3 months after purchase
I was bought this Jaffle Iron for my birthday earlier this year, which was very thoughtful. In fact, before using it, I decided to purchase another one, due to its apparent quality and ease of use.
Sadly, this was a serious mistake as immediately on using both irons, the connecting nuts fell off and were lost forever, rendering both waffle irons totally useless!!
For this reason and the not so obvious design fault, I would recommend STRONGLY AGAINST anyone buying this item. Read more

Product not up to standard

Very difficult to close the Jaffle iron with the small screw hook. So if you leave it off, the product doesn't seal properly. Bread sticks inside unless you use Spray and Cook. The product also gets very hot and could burn a child if they were using it on a stove or fire. It doesn't come near the standard of Jaffle Iron my parents had in the 70's. What a pity as when the product is good, Jaffles are amazing! Read more

Enamel jaffle iron.

I am very disappointed with this product! Firstly the closing piece of flimsy iron slides up and down all the time … it is too loose and so thin it could easily break.
Secondly before even using the screw on the closing h8nge came loose and constantly needs fastening .
Thirdly despite putting lashings of butter on the outside of the bread, it sticks terribly and one must prize it loose with a strong plastic implement.
Also one must be very careful when putting the jaffle iron down as enamel chips easily.
Oh for the days of a proper iron jaffle maker. Read more
