Not good for the long run

After 5 years of good and happy use, the kettle has started to rust inside. I Googled it and, guess what? This is a known problem. Le Creuset's website even says not to leave water in the kettle. Tell me, what kind of kettle is that? The more I gain experience in the kitchen, the more I come back to stainless steel - easy to clean, good in the dishwasher, looks beautiful, and doesn't stain or rust. Read more

A heavy traditional kettle
Item reviewed: Cerise (Cherry)
Review by Barbara B. on 24 September 2013
This is an attractive looking kettle which holds 2.1 litres of water. The water mark comes approximately half way up the kettle, over which you must not fill it. The whistle is not loud at all and can barely be heard if you are not in the same room. There are 'air vents or dents' around the lid where the steam can also escape from and this is what reduces the pressure coming out of the whistle, making it soft. Unfortunately because the steam comes out of these vents it goes straight up onto the handle, making it hot to touch. Other than those two negative comments I am happy with the look and performance of my new whistling (albeit it soft!) kettle. Read more

Stunning

Was looking at various models for my gas stove but none of the ones I saw came close to the quality of the Le Creuset kettle. I have the pots, so thought that the kettle might be very heavy, but it's not. The inside finishes are beautiful and ...... my coffee actually tastes better.....yes I know that's impossible, but I suppose it's similar to drinking coffee out of a special mug, it just tastes better! Beautiful whistler

I use this primarily for decocting and steeping herbal teas on the stove top for extended periods at low heat. Useful reminder to reduce the heat when it starts whistling. Beautiful kettle, even when not being used.

It pours well and I love the look - it really brightens up my kitchen. I'm finding the lid a little bit hard to remove but am hoping this will ease with use.

An obvious rusting issue
Item reviewed: Cerise (Cherry)
Review by Dominic S. on 16 April 2021, over 1 year after purchase
It is a beautiful looking kettle and it does what it says on the box. Unfortunately how ever the unit begins to rust on the inside within 1 year or so of use. I have now returned 3 of these in 4 years and keep getting a new replacement. So kudos to Le Creuset for honouring their warranty, but the kettle should not rust. In addition, the metal lip by the lid also pulls loose. Le Creuset says don't keep water in it? Sort of defeats the purpose of it being a kettle then doesn't it. Anyway, 4th time lucky I am now opting for the Stainless steel one and hopefully will not have to return it once again. Read more

We had the smaller Le Creuset kettle, and decided to go bigger... What a treat! This kettle is a great buy, the few extra mls makes a big difference.

I bought this kettle in cherry red to match my pans which have been in use daily for more than 20 years and I'm delighted with it. It's sturdy, boils the water quickly on my gas stove, has a lovely little whistle and looks charming in my kitchen.

Great high quality product. No leaking problems whatsoever as compared to the smaller 1.7l version. Would recommend to anyone.

It's an excellent choice! I hear the whistle even from afar, no spilling, no heavy steaming when opening the spout, boils relatively quickly depending on the volume. I love it!

Jazzy new kettle

My new Le Creuset kettle is a vast improvement on my old aluminium one. My only complaint is that water drops on the outside dry to white spots, which are very visible on the shiny black, but I guess that is my water's problem, not the kettle's!
I would recommend this product to a friend.
The perfect purchase!

A Lover of Tea Reborn!

Review by Cole H. on 18 October 2019, 1 month after purchase
I was somewhat skeptical at first in purchasing this item, mainly for my wife, as we have always had an electric kettle that you just flick a switch on for... but now... not only are we saving heaps on electricity with the daily coffees and teas, but the appeal that this kettle gives in our kitchen with its magical whistling sound takes me back to my childhood and to memories of times long gone by... I never used to drink so much tea or coffee in the first place, but now, every chance I get, I love to hear that old school whistle from this stovetop beauty and the aesthetics and quality of this kettle cannot be questioned. Highly recommended. Read more

Disappointed with the lifespan of Le Creuset

If you live in a coastal town, go SS (stainless steel) rather. We had this kettle for 8 years and only used filtered water. The base inside is completely rusted. Went online - only has a 5 year warranty, drat! Gas is the preferred source of cooking and right now we are using our inexpensive small camping kettle.

Excellent solid kettle
Item reviewed: Stainless Steel
Review by Margaretha W. on 28 December 2020, 16 days after purchase
For kettles used on a daily basis on an induction plate, the pure stainless steel (no colour coating) option is the best. It pours well. The lid is a bit stiff, but loosening with use. In order to hear its loud whistle when water is boiling, the lid must be firmly clicked into place. Thank you Yuppiechef for always providing excellent customer care and service. 5 star plus for resolving customer issues. Read more

The first unit that was delivered had a couple of scratches but I logged an exchange and the replacement unit was delivered in days. It was worth the wait…
