So to start, this makes good waffles, no doubt. BUT...

I used this waffle iron once before the hinges broke off. Its made of some sort of alloy so it not really strong, so when it gets heated, it gets brittle. We were pleasantly surprised to use this stove top waffle maker and find it delivered great waffles. It is much easier to wash and store than it’s electric counterpart and produces nice sized thickish waffles. We still need to find a winning recipe, but no one's complaining about testing waffles!

I'm amazed how good this thing is. I thought I'd be making a compromise getting a stove top one instead of a 'proper' one, but honestly, I don't see how an electric one could make better waffles.

I was concerned that using a gas hob would result in a hot spot on the maker, but it distributes the heat perfectly.

I am about to purchase this waffle iron again 10 years after my first review. The hinge broke last week when my husband decided to clean it — mixed feelings there.
