See it as a special meal rather than Christmas. Do a meal you can manage but give it every degree of quality possible. We don't do turkey and this year will have deboned chicken and a deboned butterflied leg of lamb. Have some suggestion of Christmas. Others are bringing the desserts, others the wines. The people with you are your nearest and dearest so have a few of them say a few words of celebration, thanks or excitement for the future. This will give the meal of beginning, middle and end. Enjoy each other ...and peace to all!

We do South African inspired dishes and Family Favourites rather than the warm lunch and big fuss since the Reason for the Season is not only lost generally these days but should be about spending time and enjoying your family rather than stressing about food! We have done everything from potjies tobring and braai's, wors braai's on the beach and build a burger with patties braaied on the coals and chips made in a black pot over the coals too. Keeps the house cool, mess outside which can be hosed off if necessary and more social. Desserts range from trifle to jelly, custard, ice-cream, lebkuchen and all assorted chocolates and festive indulgences.
