This might be a stilly question but could someone please explain the different types of pastry to me? I know that in the shops you can buy ready rolled puff pastry, is that the same as phyllo pastry? and where can I get little pastry squares for wrapping spring rolls? Also, shortcrust pastry, do I have to make that from scratch? I'm a working woman with a husband with a serious sweet tooth (and pastry obsession) so I am always looking for quick and easy pastry solutions.

Hi Alinke

Phyllo and puff pastry are two very different things! This link is quite cool as it gives you a quick run down on all the different ones:

Making pastry yourself is always a winner as using fresh ingredients is definitely the way to go, but let's face it, if you're a working woman you certainly don't always have the time. That being said, there is nothing wrong with taking a short cut by using ready bought - you just need to add some extra love when making it :)
