I was raised with Victorinox, as I child I would only want my "Nox" spoons and as I grew older it became my one and only kitchen essential. My parents (and grandparents) are still using the same forks, knives, spoons etc. from when I was a child and that just proves the durability of this brand. However, although I have always ONLY had Victorinox in my kitchen, I only ever had table/teaspoons, forks, normal knives and paring knives. I never even thought to try the bigger knives as the normal Victorinox knife already did it all for me. From veggies to meat the small knife works wonders already, believe me. I decided I needed to upgrade. As I said I am a Victorinox baby but my heart was leaning towards the Wüsthof knife. Almost clicked it when I decided I'm sticking with my "Noxes" and boy am I glad. At a much, much cheaper price this thing is AMAZING! How did I ever live without it? Now I don't know how the Wüsthof will feel in your hand or differ as I don't own one, but honestly, I cannot believe or think it will be twice better than this at that price point! I might still one day own the Wüsthof but if you only want one knife you cannot go wrong with this one. You and your bank account will smile for years down the line. Read more

I am really enjoying this knife for the reasons given in the review title. It is great for cutting those difficult items like pumpkin, which sometimes feel as if an axe might be the appropriate tool to use, but equally easy for fiddly jobs such as chopping herbs. It also sliced neatly through ripe tomatoes which was very satisfying. The only thing I don't like is the slightly "gritty" feel of the handle which is my reason for giving it four stars rather than five. This may not be an issue for everyone and I'm sure I'll adapt to it fairly quickly. Read more

Excellent knife. Not heavy to lift. Comfortable in my little hands. Fibrox handle lends itself to a good grip. Totally do not regret making this purchase. Great addition to any cooks arsenal of kitchen essentials.
I just love that prepping veg and meat is no longer a mission. Cuts down on time taken for prep work. LOL, see what I did there :)

I've only had this knife for just over a week, but it was love at first slice. I have never owned such a magnificent piece of equipment! It tackles all foodstuffs with the ease and grace of slicing through soft butter. I feel like I want to cook more now. So ecstatic with this purchase!

As I am not a professional chef, it was not warranted that I spend a huge amount of money on a very fancy knife. I have another Victorinox knife which I have had for years and am happy with it. It was therefore an easy decision to choose this knife. It is a quality knife at a reasonable price. If Victorinox knives are good enough for the Swiss army, they are certainly good enough for me. This is a great knife. While its construction is most likely not as strong as some of the more expensive knives and I have read that the metal is on the softer side, the benefit is that it is really light, easy to use, has a thin blade and cuts beautifully. I have no hesitation in recommending this. It is a lot of knife for the price.

Good knives don't come cheap. In saying that, this one was one of the few chef's knives below R1,000 and is a joy to work with. It is super sharp and has fared well in everything we've used it for (butternut chopping which is my nemesis proved easy).
