A bit underwhelmed

After all the rave reviews, I suppose these truffles were a bit of a disappointment. The flavour was similar to a mild mushroom, and I had to grate the entire truffle over my cooked pasta to even taste the difference.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I really wasn't expecting this to be worth the money, a tiny little underground mushroom, but oh my word.

The elevation it adds to pasta and even mash is just wonderful.

Affordable way to try - best with homemade pasta , good olive oil (or add the truffle oil) and enjoy

I grated the black truffle over hot risotto at the table moments before eating, as per the recipe instructions. I was expecting the truffle flavour to transform the risotto. There was zero effect. I tasted a shaving of the truffle and there was no taste. It also had no smell.

Fake Truffles

I used this product last night on a pasta dish. Was expecting an explosion of Truffle smell when I started grating it over the pasta...but there was nothing! Cut a piece off the actual truffle and it tasted of not-much-of-anything. The inside looked more like a gel. No lines like you would expect to see inside a truffle. Best before date is 2023.

Gives you access to a real delicacy at a very affordable price. Loved it shaved over creamy scrambled eggs, served with steamed asparagus and pork chipolatas in a reduced wild mushroom sauce. Yum!

This is a pricey little pot but knowing the quality and having tested all the other truffle products in this brand range on YuppieChef we really wanted to try this too. We have high expectations so I’m holding thumbs they will be met, as we haven’t the bottle and are waiting for the perfect dish to crack the lid.

Unfortunately, the Truffles we received were tasteless, it's a high-end product and you expect more.

The truffle flavour was very subtle. Used the 20g, plus the liquid and added to the risotto when served, not during the cooking process.

Could barely taste it. a swig of good truffle oil imparts much more truffle flavour.

Very deceptive product listing. Claims a shelf life of several years which may well be the case if it isn't opened. Once opened it has to be used within 5 days as directed on the bottle. Wouldn't have bought it if I knew this.
