Proudly South African — The Mervyn Gers process — from clay to table top
Mervyn Gers Ceramics pride themselves on creating without undue mechanisation. Clay is mixed with finely milled ceramic, to create a rougher texture, which is then shaped and fired at up to 1220°C — the result is strong, long-lasting stoneware. The pieces are then hand-dipped in their range of uniquely designed glazes. In ten years, this studio has grown to train a team of new artisans and currently employs 40 people.
