‐ Collapse this SectionCapture the true essence of Mexican cooking with this beautifully authentic tortilla press, perfect for making delicious homemade tortillas and tacos. Easy to use — simply push down the press to transform dough into even flat breads ready for frying, before serving.
- Aluminium tortilla press
- Simply pop a small ball of dough into the centre of the press, and push the top part down to create perfectly even, flat tortillas ready for frying
- Can also be used to make rotis
Note: the press is designed to make tortillas, which are a thin, flexible flatbread. If you'd like to make your breads super thin, you might have to whip out the rolling pin. Dough bouncing back? Leave it to rise in a warm place to let the glutens relax, and try pressing again in ten minutes.

So easy to use

The Tortilla press is so easy to use, and makes making tortilla so much easier. I like them thinner so after pressing I do roll out more, and it is still so much faster and easier. Love it... Now all I need is Masa for corn tortillas. Really miss them since I am from the US, Mexican food is missed the most.

I actually bought this product to make pury, a sort of Indian fried roti.
Works very well. Very happy with the product.

I never knew making my own tortillas could be such fun and much tastier than store bought - this little beauty makes all the difference.

Waste of Time and Money
Item reviewed:
Review by Sharon P. on 7 January 2014
I bought the tortilla press as a present for my parents.
It is a total waste of time and money. The press does not press the dough out enough - sticks to the press - as soon as pressed it shrinks back within seconds.
I did not want to give this item any stars but it would not let me continue without selecting one.

Happy with product

This product is good for flattening tortillas and making them round but it doesn't flatten it enough so a rolling pin is still essential to get it as thin as possible.

Not too happy with product

Review by Swaleha R. on 20 January 2014, 2 months after purchase
I am quite disappointed with this product. Before I bought mine, I read the reviews and was quite excited to get one. When it came, I felt that it was cheaply packaged and had no instructions, no recipes etc. Also, when I use it, it does not press evenly and does not press it thin enough, I still have to roll the dough.

Disappointing
Item reviewed:
Review by Diana P. on 10 February 2014, 11 days after purchase
This product does nothing I can't do with a rolling pin- and a rolling pin does it better. The press produces thick-ish discs of dough which bear no resemblance to tortillas. A real disappointment.

Terrible
Item reviewed:
Review by Warwick M. on 15 October 2015, 8 days after purchase
Terrible, very disappointed in the press. It's made of light aluminium and the middle bulges out so the tortilla cannot be pressed flat enough which means you have to use a roller and so defeats the purpose of the press? If this was made of cast iron it would be better. Don't waste your money.

Great soft tortilla press
Item reviewed:
Review by Claudia C. on 30 December 2015, 13 days after purchase
This tortilla press works very well. If you want to make large wraps please note that this is not the right tool. This is a soft tortilla press, which makes great tortillas. I prefer mine slightly thinner so I still will put the rolling pin on it, but it does speed the process up.

It makes a flat bread, still have to work on my dough skills to use it properly.
Maybe Yuppiechef will import Masa harina for us to make real corn tortillas.

Very disappointed with product
Item reviewed:
Review by Janet P. on 9 January 2014, 28 days after purchase
Although the product is well constructed there were no instructions given as to how to use it. We used our regular tortilla/wrap recipe (which always works well with hand rolled tortillas) but the exercise was a disaster using the tortilla press. An appropriate recipe/s, including the weight of dough ball to use, should be provided.

Not a necessity
Item reviewed:
Review by Gerrit K. on 26 June 2014, 1 month after purchase
The press works, but be aware that it doesn't flatten the dough nearly as much as a rolling pin would, or to the thickness you would expect a tortilla to be. I use it to quickly flatten a ball of dough and then stretch it out further with my hands or a rolling pin until I have the desired thickness.

Very disappointing!

Review by Graeme V. on 22 December 2014, over 1 year after purchase
This tortilla press has been poorly designed in that it does not force the dough out to the edges. The result is that you get a thick disk of only about 10cm diameter, nothing more than what pre-flattening of the dough ball with the palm of your hand would achieve.
I have never before been let down by Yuppiechef's products, but this has absolutely no use and mine will be thrown away. Seriously, don't waste money on this. Read more

Product works ok

This is a good idea but the quantity of the product is questionable. Still have to roll out the dough to get it to the right thickness. But it does make life easier.

Poor quality on the product
Item reviewed:
Review by Mohammed M A. on 25 February 2015, 8 days after purchase
Mechanism on the product is poor as it gets stuck as you press down and the finish on the product is poor as the press on the inside is ridged.

Wasted money

There really is no point in this tortilla press. The thinnest you can get your tortilla is like a naan bread. I was told I had to use a rolling pin for the rest - so what's the point? Two rolls of a rolling pin would have the same effect. :-(

This product does not work as it should, it is too flimsy
Item reviewed:
Review by Jennifer D. on 8 September 2015, 13 days after purchase
It is flimsy, the plates don't align properly, even when muscle is applied it does not go thinner than 2 - 3 ml which is way too thick and you the need to hand roll to get it to the required size and thickness. All of this does not make it worth the while taking it out of its box. To say I am disappointed with this product is an understatement. I am also irritated as I am forced to give it a star just so my review can go off when in reality I would not give this item any stars. Read more

Very disappointed in this product

Bought this product a while ago and used it for the first time this weekend. The handle broke off whilst I was pressing down the press. The product states that it is stainless steel tortilla press, but I’m sure it isn’t stainless steel but rather aluminium. As the other critics have stated; it isn’t efficient and you may as well just use a rolling pin. We were very disappointed in the product. Read more

We love our new tortilla press! It's a breeze to use and fresh home-made tortillas are just soooo much better than store bought tortillas. We would gladly recommend this product.

Poorly constructed & weak materials
Item reviewed:
Review by Mathew S. on 11 July 2016, 11 days after purchase
While in concept this is a simple and fantastic tool in reality it disappoints. The aluminium casting is flimsy and two halves do not make a true match and as a result when dough is pressed it does not flatten to the extent a good quality model would. This means that further rolling is required negating the whole reason this was purchased.
We tested the product both with standard wheat flour, chickpea flour and masa flour and the results were all equally depressing in comparison so we gave up and used a rolling pin.
I will be returning the product or turning it into fishing sinkers. Read more

It does the trick perfectly well. For people unfamiliar with them: use two pieces of wax paper and put the dough ball between them before pressing.
Check youtube videos for instructions on how much water to add if you are unfamiliar and how to use the press properly.

Disappointed

I couldn't wait to receive my tortilla press but I was very disappointed with the product. It seems that the sides of the press don't meet and as a result, the dough does not push out all the way to the edge. A rolling pin did a better job!

I bought this for making Roti and sadly doesn't flatten as much as required... so still end up rolling to required size :(

Sturdily crafted and easy to use! Tortillas don't spread out as much as I hoped, but I will try "tweaking" the recipe. Still glad I bought it :)
