This works really well getting those layers perfectly, especially if you keep one point of the cutting wire static, and pivot the cutter around. Can't believe I've never owned one before!

Crumb coating a cake before applying fondant has never been easier. This cutter levels your cake perfectly every time. The fact that it has height adjustments and the width is simply awesome as you can use it on any size cake.

I offered to make my friend a cake for her very small wedding and so I got this to help me make sure that the layers were perfectly cut. I had never used a cutting wire before and never imagined it would be this easy!

I ended up making a total of three cakes that I used this cutting wire on and all of them came out looking very professional. I just would have liked the little sizing indentations to go further up the sides to give more sizing options but I found that even without them the wire was taunt and stable enough to cut.

The cutting wire is well made and I can see it will last a long time. Can't wait to use it again! Read more

I was going to review this nifty little gadget myself - but the other 39 reviews here will tell you exactly what I was going to day! I stupidly broke my first one (it was 5 years old already) when I banged it on my kitchen counter, and I HAD to replace it 'coz I can't be without it! You won't get the same neatness or accuracy with a knife.

Seriously wish I had bought this product years ago. It's large, so it comfortably cuts cakes that are larger than your typical size, which is great when baking tiered cakes. The wire is also stronger/thicker/more sturdy than other products I have used previously, so it cuts through even the most dense chocolate brownie cakes with nuts baked into it with no trouble.

I wanted to try a cake collar but it looked clumsy and you'd need different sizes for different cake sizes. This tool, on the other hand, is very versatile and works well. It doesn't matter what size your cakes are, it'll slice through them all with ease and accuracy. Although it layers the cake well, it's not quite as strong as I would've liked. If the cake has any crusty exterior, the wire will not cut through it. However, it has no problem with moist cake!
