How to get a good froth in the Severin Induction Milk Frother?
I've just acquired this amazing machine, but I'm a complete novice at everything around it. In adverts I see the some really nice results, but my barely existent foam dies horribly on the first sip. I've been trying to look up information, but am failing.
How do you get a good foam? Is there a recommended brand of milk and milk type that anyone can recommend? There is not much I can do with the machine being pretty much on auto pilot, except run the cold foam followed by the hot foam cycle, but that hasn't been working so well.

Hello Miriel
Hmm, let's see if we can get to the bottom of this. The manual recommends that for thicker foam you should run the cold cycle followed by the hot cycle, so you are definitely right in doing that.
Is it perhaps the volume of milk - how much are you putting in?
Severin recommends using long life low fat milk, straight out of the fridge, as it is most effective - maybe give that a try and let us know how it goes?
Take care,
Angela
Thanks for the fast response, Angela.
Wow! Okay. I under-estimated the power of long life milk! I had been filling the machine to the max mark for frothing. I tried low fat and full cream fresh milk, but hadn't tried long life. I nipped out to the shops this morning to get some before responding so I could try it out and report.
So, it's pretty much confirmed. I know Severin recommends long life low fat milk (I just didn't have any at home at the time I tested), but I would pretty much amend that to "just use low fat long life milk", because fresh milk doesn't seem to work at all. :)
Thanks again! I've got stars in my eyes and a mug of super frothy hot chocolate in my hand!

Hi, I have just purchased the latest model. Note the answers about frothing. What is the best temperature Celsius to froth for cappuccino. Did Miriel have to cold froth with the low fat long life milk?
Kind Regards,
Niall.
Hello everyone! Can you give some recommendations on handheld milk frothers? My mom wanna try to make cappuccino at home, but I need to buy that thing that makes cream.
I found a comparison https://www.coffee-statistics.com/best-handheld-milk-frother/ but for me it makes no sense.
