Grinds very well. I've done dried garlic, green onions, and red and yellow peppers. Will definitely recommend it if you want to make your own spices.

I bought this several months ago based on research and online reviews.

I have a little coffee grinder thingy that I've used for my spices, but I wanted something that could also handle wet ingredients, opening up the world of curry pastes in addition to curry powders.

I bought it on special several months ago, and it is beautiful, and I'm sure very functional.

After two burnt-out motors on other products and one that barely worked, I am thrilled to have an appliance that does what it claims to do and I am able now at last to grind my flax seeds.

Works well, and the lid design is great however it did overheat after about 15mins of grinding salt, so it can't be used for too long at a time.

Only spice grinder that I could find with a thermal cut-off on the motor. It doesn't just burn out and die if it's pushed a little bit beyond its limits.

Far better than others but not perfect. Probably the best product of its kind available at the moment.

The most serious issue is that even when wiping with a moist cloth it is difficult to clean the outside of the base. The switches that must be pushed down by the cover can easily get moisture in them.

If this happens then the outside stainless steel on the base with the Cuisinart logo will give you a really nasty electric shock. This is really bad and allowing it to dry out properly so that it's safe to use takes at least a day or two. But, other products from other manufacturers have even worse faults.

I guess it's the very best of a bad bunch.

I've had the cheaper coffee/spice grinders but they do not even compare one bit to the Cuisinart. I use it daily, chopping garlic and ginger for stir-fries, nuts and semi-sundried chipotles which my "cheap" grinder would only spin around.

The bowl sizes are great too. Buy it and thank me later.
