This Belgian speciality ale has a fruity and malty aroma with a slightly spicy character with notes of coriander and hops. Additional earthy and very subtle aromas of banana and tropical fruit linger in the background. The flavour is full of fruit and spice with a nougat-like solidity and hints of liquorice passing into a warm finish reminiscent of caramelised banana. The bitterness always remains in the background but in the end emerges delicately.
- Deep bright amber in colour
- Dense, creamy coloured head
- Mellow fruit and malt on the nose and palate, with hints of spice and caramelised banana
Rob Heyns' Tasting Notes:
November 2014 - This pale ale is big for its Belgian style with a decent malt and alcohol body. It is also known for its brilliant rich, orange amber appearance with dense head and tiny bubbles. Predominant flavours are of dark fruits, candied orange and some roasted grain. It is a true Belgian classic and a leader of its generation.
